San Bernardino County Young Republicans Back Thurston “Smitty” Smith for Assembly

APPLE VALLEY, CA – Assemblyman Thurston “Smitty” Smith announced Wednesday that he had received the San Bernardino County Young Republicans (SBCYR) endorsement in his campaign for California’s 34th Assembly District.

“Smitty Smith is a relentless fighter for taxpayers and continues to stand up against the Sacramento-elite politicians who have failed us on inflation, affordability, crime, homelessness, and taxes. We need fighters like Smitty to stand up for our conservative values and fight to make California a better place to live,” said David Matza, President of the San Bernardino County Young Republicans.

The San Bernardino County Young Republicans join a long list of endorsements for Assemblyman Smith, including the San Bernardino County Republican Party, Congressman Jay Obernolte, Sheriff Shannon Dicus, District Attorney Jason Anderson, Accessor/Recorder Bob Dutton, and Board of Supervisors Chairman Curt Hagman, Vice-Chair Dawn Rowe, and Supervisor Col. Paul Cook (ret.).

The newly created 34th Assembly District encompasses most of the former 33rd Assembly District. It includes Apple Valley, Barstow, Big Bear Lake, California City, Hesperia, Highland, Lancaster, Palmdale, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, and portions of unincorporated San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Kern Counties.

Thurston “Smitty” Smith is a retired concrete contractor and small businessman. He has served as the Mayor of Hesperia and currently serves in the State Assembly. Smitty and his wife, Margaret, have been married for 35 years and raised their two children in the San Bernardino County High Desert. For more information, visit: JoinSmitty.com
