APPLE VALLEY, CA – Assemblyman Thurston “Smitty” Smith announced Thursday that he had received the endorsement of longtime Highland community leader and Mayor Larry McCallon.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of longtime Highland Mayor Larry McCallon, and I’m looking forward to representing the City of Highland as I continue to fight for lower taxes, getting inflation under control, and supporting our law enforcement officers,” said Assemblyman Thurston “Smitty” Smith.
The San Bernardino County Young Republicans join a long list of endorsements for Assemblyman Smith, including the San Bernardino County Republican Party, Sheriffs Employees Benefit Association (SEBA), Congressman Jay Obernolte, Sheriff Shannon Dicus, District Attorney Jason Anderson, Accessor/Recorder Bob Dutton, and Board of Supervisors Chairman Curt Hagman, Vice-Chair Dawn Rowe, and Supervisor Col. Paul Cook (ret.).
The newly created 34th Assembly District encompasses most of the former 33rd Assembly District. It includes Apple Valley, Barstow, Big Bear Lake, California City, Hesperia, Highland, Lancaster, Palmdale, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, and portions of unincorporated San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Kern Counties.
Thurston “Smitty” Smith is a retired concrete contractor and small businessman. He has served as the Mayor of Hesperia and currently serves in the State Assembly.
